Real wisdom will inhere
in oppositions clear.
Fake wisdom’s fake finery
yields the overly binary.
This shambling meditation,
wisdom’s degradation,
pretence of mystery in riddles,
by excluding applicable middles,
sets the root of its declension
in its very mention
of seeing
such Haitian suffering
without faith’s buffering
an indecency being.*
Wisdom does not draw
on such men of straw,
nor fashion its own sweet sumptuousness
on such self regarding presumptuousness.

"And about the ninth hour
Jesus cried with a loud voice,

'My God, my God,
